Marda Gras is a FREE family-friendly event in the heart of Marda Loop and the longest running street festival in Calgary. Take part in a pedestrian friendly, car-free day with your friends and family – shopping local, experiencing quality arts and culture programming, and connecting with your community.

2026 Event Details

What’s happening:

  • Celebrate Calgary’s oldest street festival in the heart of Marda Loop.
  • 4 stages of live entertainment – music, dance and a new stage in the Kids Quarter!
  • Don’t miss the Pet Pageant on the 20th Street Main Stage @ 1:30 pm. Enter your pet in the pageant or simply donate to our animal charity. All proceeds go to Parachutes for Pets!
  • There are over 250 small businesses participating; including many of Marda Loop’s very own beloved businesses. There are lots of locally handmade artisans, food trucks and community organizations, too, so shop until you drop and support local!
  • Bike Valet – Park your bike, scooter or stroller in our volunteer monitored bike valet and enjoy the festival! Located near 18th Street and 33rd Ave SW.
  • Free shuttle bus to & from the festival from the Military Museums, where attendees can park and ride. Sorry, no pets on the bus.

Pet Pageant

Everyone’s favorite event at Marda Gras – The Pet Pageant! Registration closes August 6. $25 registrations are donated to the festival’s 2026 animal charity, Parachutes for Pets. Be sure to visit their booth next to the main stage on 20th Street!

Getting to Marda Gras

33rd Avenue SW between 18th and 22nd Street

Marda Gras is hosted on the streets of Marda Loop, on 33rd Avenue SW between 18th and 22nd street.

If you’re nearby, the best way to get here is on foot!  If you are a little further, there is Calgary Transit service via Max Yellow BRT, and Routes 7, 20, 22 and 66.  You can also scoot here.

Shuttle service to and from the festival to the Military Museums is provided by Southland Transportation from 10:00 am – 5:20 pm (last bus leaving for the museum). The shuttle drops off on Garrison Gate SW just south of 33rd Ave. Download the Shuttle drop off and pick up map >
